Question: What is MMC card which is used in PLC ? How it is different from EPROM and why now a days MMC card is used in place of it.

Non-volatile EEPROM with battery back is normally used in PLCs/DCS for storing data and program.Micromemory card (MMC) is being used now a days in PLCs as data and program memory without ay battery backup.It also accomodates total program of the project including symbols and comments. It also facilitates program editing/updating . it permits read and write access during CPU RUN mode so monitoring and storing of actual data also becomes easy.

  2. MMC word is coined by Siemens and used in Siemens S7 PLC.
